This Changing Time of Year

Many Greetings Dear Ones,

There is a lot in flux this time of year and of course this year in particular. At the same time there is a weariness of the bones about this year and all the exhaustion it has engendered. We want to speak to this.

In one sense, time simply continues to travel on, or one’s sense of it does, following the calendar and the changes of season and light. In another sense, one’s experience is inevitably marked through the highlights and challenges over time, and the turning of the calendar page, so to speak, is imbued with symbolism and meaning.

Both of these things are human, and therefore valid. And the ability and propensity to mark time can be vital to one’s sense of self and belonging in the world. So we would suggest that you imbue this time with everything you can. There is a lot of energy given right now, through very many people, to this idea that once 2020 has passed, things will be different. They will of course be different. You would, if you wrote checks, need to monitor yourself closely for the numerals of the date. But more importantly, things will be different because of the weight behind it. Because of the heft of the year you leave behind. Because most people wish it so. The fatigue and the uplift of that fatigue go hand in hand. Not so often do so many from so far away wish the same thing, Can This Just Be Over?

Of course, the next day dawns and everyone is pretty much the same. The same troubles exist, the same wrinkles and dissatisfaction. There may even remain some regrets. But we think you will see that there is light dawning, and that if you attend, you can harness yourself to that rise.

Your experience here, as you know, is not so objective as it seems. The experience of each person is colored by what they perceive, how they grew up, what signs and symbols hold meaning for them, how they see themselves in the world, how they perceive others, what they have chosen to believe. There are events of significance in each life, but whether it feels like the best or worst day or neutral, that is never a given. It is, whether you think so or not, a chosen. Nobody would say that losing the love of your life, for instance, is the best day you’ve ever had. But what follows that event, the meaning you make and take and develop from there, that is what defines your experience, and what, in fact, defines you.

So make use of the shift of these moments, pay attention to the intensification that happens around these times. Make use of the pent up energy, the group energy, the opportunity to slip into something more comfortable, more suitable, more You. Humans are nothing if not makers of meaning, and that is a difficult job to get right. By which we mean it is easy to keep returning to the meanings you’ve already made, the well-worn, automatic, the fight. Make use of this springboard (if you wish) to make something come true in your life. Give up your old notions of how it all goes and transition to some kind of light.

Much love and many blessings,
BlueStar & Counsel of Light
