Hello all –
There has arisen (already! how about that!) a question regarding Beliefs and Life Maps, from the previous post about Frustration and Overwhelm. It is really very simple, in theory, to explain. The trouble is, you may know and understand what we are saying, but it can be quite difficult to alter these things once put in place in the material plane of existence.
We don’t want to say a bad thing about systems such as that so-called Law of Attraction, but it seems to us that it has been presented in a manner in which it was easy for many of you to interpret as: you are wrong, you are bad, you deserve pain, you are stupid, what’s wrong with you that your life is not perfect the way you believe you would like it to be…? This is not that. It is not what we are saying, although in some resonances it may sound very much the same. So, here goes.
As mentioned previously, one’s experiences at an early time in life, including and especially the responses one receives from tribe members and others who are close and/or in power over your being at some time (teachers, babysitters, parents of friends and the like), will lead one to conclusions and beliefs about How Things Work here on this planet in this plane. Conclusions and Beliefs guide the development of your Life Map, as we call it. You might just call it Life.
You may find, if you research it long enough, that many scientific studies have shown among humans that what is believed about one’s life is what comes to pass. More about that in a moment. First may we say, each life contains myriad factors which affect the progression and the outcome of each “life”. So, don’t worry too much about the things you cannot control (we would say don’t worry about those things at all, but that might be asking too much). Especially the facts of your early life and whether you were embraced or rejected, entrained or adopted, there is so much groundwork over which you had no say. But meaning is yours to make as you wish, now. With a few exceptions.
Meaning is yours to make, now, but keep in mind a few things. Meaning-making takes practice, takes skills you must now develop. It is natural to make meaning, as empathy and love and anger are natural, too. But how you develop these things and in which directions (do you love yourself or just those around you, and so forth and so on) is your work now. And your ability to make meaning, and the meanings that appear to be available to you, might be narrower than you think. So we invite you to stretch and believe things that you don’t always think are possible, and to disbelieve things which you have always counted upon to be true.
For example, maybe you have never felt loved. Maybe not really and truly, the way each person longs to feel such a thing, indeed. So now you could stretch just a little and believe – just for a day or a week or a few minutes if that’s all you’ve got – that you are in fact loved. Deeply and unconditionally and fully known and loved all the more for that. All your foibles. Known and loved. All your talents. Known, acknowledged and loved. Whether or not you bring them to bear, whether or not you gather or distribute your fruit. You are loved. Just for a moment, imagine this is true and believe it. Then see what happens in your life. If you made a habit of believing and seeking the truth of this, your entire world would change.
This is not to say that everyone loves you equally. Not everyone knows it yet. But you are loved.
If you believe, and have believed that the world is a difficult place, it will appear to be so for you. Many people think, but what of poverty? when they themselves are not as impoverished as some. Let us tell you, it does no good to worry about the conceptual in place of attending to your own world. Where is there poverty within you? Where is the poverty around you? And where, we ask in all truth, is your wealth? Every life has wealth, every life is lacking. What is your particular layout and how did it come to be? And what have you enjoyed the privilege of without knowing? And it what way have you been oppressed? You are your own worst enemy. How will you now become your friend?
Your life is not preordained to follow a certain path. While there is such a thing as destiny, there is also such a thing as free will. And the free will of others can alter the course of your life, no matter what you had planned when you got here. When we say Life Map, what we mean is the map of your life. The one you look back on at death, to see where you came from and how you traveled. Not how far but by what means. You may be surprised to see how beautiful it was, in spite of your beliefs. You may be surprised to see how much mercy you were shown and what tender care the world took of you, behind your back, where you could not see. But you can feel it now.
You could relax your conclusions a bit, and stay open to what is here, now. You are traveling in ways you have no idea of, with strength and clarity and courage and light. If you stretch your beliefs a little bit now, maybe you will have a little more fun. Maybe you will see yourself sooner, just as you are. Maybe confusion is not proof that something is wrong.
You will find there are studies showing people who feel themselves lucky, in fact, have luckier lives. They are the ones who find the twenty dollars lying on the street. The ones who do not believe such things about themselves will simply pass it by. THAT DOES NOT MEAN THE DOLLARS DO NOT EXIST. It means you experience what you have come to expect in the world, and your beliefs will map your life, from now until you leave it. And you have choice.
We also want to say you have beliefs handed down to you, and especially ones upon which you have based your survival, and these are quite difficult to erase. Instead of eradication, you could allow your goal to be relaxation, calming the fears, and expanding what else might arise. It may be that you don’t find money in the street, but other people do, so WHY NOT YOU? It may be that success in the world has eluded you thus far, but other people find success, so WHY NOT YOU? If you can calm your survival thoughts down, there will be room for new beliefs and then you can make choices based on new ideas of what’s possible. And then it can expand to include the whole world. Peace is possible here and there, so WHY NOT EVERYWHERE ELSE? Or at least here, in this moment, where you are. Live your ideals, not just your earliest conclusions, and your Life Map alters slightly each day. Before you know it, you are mapping a life more in keeping with who you meant to be, the original idea you had when you chose to arise here.
We hope this is a clarifying explanation. Feel free to ask more questions in the comments!
With Love,
